Evo

  • Breed / Mix: Belgian Malinois
  • Age: 12 Years
  • Service: Local Police / Agency

K9 Evo, an 11-year-old Belgian Malinois, served with distinction as a dual-purpose Patrol and Narcotics Detection K9 for the Woodbury City Police Department (NJ) from 2017 to 2022. Throughout his career, Evo conducted numerous searches of packages, vehicles, and residential properties, resulting in significant seizures of narcotics and currency. His contributions were invaluable to the department and the community.
In July 2022, Evo experienced a medical setback when a small, unknown tumor ruptured on his spleen. Following emergency surgery, which involved the removal of his spleen, Evo returned to duty for a short period. However, due to additional medical concerns, it was ultimately determined that retirement was in his best interest.
Shortly after retiring, Evo underwent bladder surgery to address a large number of stones. After a lengthy and challenging recovery, he fully healed and is now enjoying his well-deserved retirement. Evo has found comfort in his home environment, with one of his favorite activities being running around the yard and carrying logs from the firewood pile—a unique habit that continues to bring him joy.
As his handler, I am deeply grateful for Evo’s dedication and partnership throughout our time together. Evo was the best dog a handler could ever ask for. His work ethic, loyalty, and drive made him an exceptional K9. While retired, I plan to continue his training and ensure he remains mentally and physically active, allowing him to enjoy his retirement to the fullest.
Happy retirement to my dedicated partner, K9 Evo.
