K9 Rocky is an English Spring Spaniel born in Hungary on 02-10-2017. Due to Rocky’s intelligence, high performance and drive, he was selected into training to become a “working dog”. After a few years of training in Holland, Rocky was hand selected to become a police dog by Silver State K9 and made his stateside trip to Las Vegas, NV. In January of 2020 Rocky and his owner, Sgt. Brent Skancke finally met for the first time. Sgt. Skancke and K9 Rocky trained together and became a certified team for the LHCPD in K9 narcotics detection. From the get go, Rocky decided to go above and beyond to prove he was the best dog for the job by not just competing for one nationally recognized certification but completing 4 instead (National Police Canine Association, K9 Narcotic Detection, California K9 P.O.S.T. and Drug Beat K9. While some would say that Rocky was the most handsome Officer the LHCPD ever had, especially by the “pup-perazzi”, he was also the most feared by the drug community. Within the first week of Rock’s arrival he located a pound of cocaine packaged for sale during a routine traffic stop. Over the next 5 years (35 doggy years) Rocky continued to take illegal drugs off the streets in his community. Amongst all the training and narcotic deployments, Rocky always found time to meet and greet the general public to see “howl” they were doing. K9 Rocky never missed a chance to spread his lovingness.
