In 2018 Walter Failed out of the Guide Dog Foundation program and found himself as a perfect candidate for ATF’s Explosives Detection Program. Walter graduated ATF’s basic Explosives Detection Acadamy in May 2019 and was assigned to a Federal location in Northern Virginia. During his career Walter has searched over 5000 vehicles at the inspection facility, responded to unattended packages and vehicles. Walter was part of ATF’s National Response Team where he worked such events as multiple Marine Corps Marathons, the Pro Football Hall of Fame, The State of the Union Address, the Occoquan River Festival, and several other smaller events. Walter has assisted several Federal, State, and Local agencies with executions of search warrants. Walter has found over a dozen guns, thousands of rounds of ammunition, and multiple pipes bombs during the execution of these search warrants. In Walter’s down time, he like to carry his favorite blanket around the house and lay on the couch with it. His favorite treat is anything with peanut butter or small blocks of cheese he gets when mom is cooking.
