Vudu

Vudu came to DC Metro Police from Texas when his handlers former dog retired. Vudu blended right in with his handler and his family and was loved instantly. During his time at Metro Vudu searched cars, people, trains etc as a member of the EOD unit. He was great at his job. Always reliable and passed his evals without issue. He has an enormous play drive and would play fetch all day every day if you let him. Unfortunately, in the summer of this year (2025) his handler noticed he wasn’t feeling great. He took him to the vet out of an abundance of caution and it turns out he had a tumor on his spleen that had ruptured. Emergency surgery removed the spleen and when tested, the tumor showed hemangiosarcoma. Vudu was subsequently retired a few months later although he loves to ride along with his handler from time to time. At home, Vudu loves hanging with his humans and his brother and sister dogs (one of which is his handlers other previously retired K9).
